Myresipi is Innity’s Website of the Month!

Myresipi is one of the leading recipe websites that enable users to search and share interesting recipes online. The site is constantly uploaded with varieties of mouth-watering recipes from drinks to desserts, snacks to full dishes. Md Hisamudin Ahamd from Myresipi took some time out of their busy schedule for an email interview with Innity recently.

1. Can you tell us a little about how Myresipi got started?

Did you know the history about Taj Mahal in Agra, India? Shah Jahan built it for his wife, Mumtaz Mahal during 1632-1648. These two people from the course of history set an example for the people living in the present and the future to come.

Coincidentally, Myresipi.com is also about a story of love. Dr. Bakhtiar Affendi Rosdi created the site for his wife, Norhayani Mohd Noor in 2006, while completing his Ph.D at Tokyo Institute of Technology.

While being abroad in Japan, Norhayani loved to find new and interesting recipes online. However, there were limited websites that gave users the opportunity to upload their own recipes, give comments and feedback. Then Dr. Bakhtiar came to the rescue to provide a platform for users to share photos and recipes via an interactive feedback system.

Over the course of 6 years, traffic increased dramatically. More and more people visited Myresipi and eventually it became an online brand in terms of all things cooking.

2. What makes Myresipi a great Innity publisher?

It’s pretty much obvious. 95% of Myresipi visitors are female, with the average age of 25-35 years old. With more than 4 million page views per month, it can’t be wrong.

In case you don’t know, women are a prime target of marketers with an obvious reason. Estimates put their share of household spending at 80%, giving them control over about $1.7 trillion annually in the United States. We don’t have the figure in Malaysia, but you can always do the math.

Myresipi does not rely on the website alone. It’s an integrated social media entity with presence on Facebook and Twitter with followers of 180,000 and 1,500 respectively. Malay dominated website is an untapped market. Imagine the potential of reach.

Look out for another three new books this coming Ramadan 2012, from the author Norhayani Mohd Noor.

3. What role does Innity play in your business and how has it helped?

Innity does a great job by being able to match the right advertisers with the right publisher. Most people misunderstand, that when it comes to cooking and recipe, there is no value. In actual fact, Myresipi.com is all about lifestyle. It impacts the way people live, learn and work. With the help of Innity, we have an array of advertisers from the kitchen, furniture, and electronics industry.

In that sense, Innity fills the gap between advertisers and publishers.

 4. Any tips for our readers who are interested in starting up their own websites?

Just be yourself and follow your heart. Never try to imitate others. If you want to start your own website, be it blogs and web application, make sure you understand your user. Understanding technology is only the second part. Give them what they want, not what you think they want. It’s certain that a user will come back for more if they found your site to be beneficial.
