We were pretty excited when we were able to get in touch with Selina, the all-in-one Founder, Director, Sales & Marketing girl to talk about how the site became the way it is now.

1) Can you tell us a little about Urbanesia?
Urbanesia is a lifestyle recommendation and e-commerce site to let users enjoy their city. We grew from an online lifestyle city directory and adding more rich content with recommendation in the form of articles called Urban’s note and reviews (both user generated and editorial). Our goal is to make city living more fun and convenient.
2) How is Urbanesia different from the other lifestyle sites out there?
Recently, we rolled out a new e-commerce feature that enables users to buy experience packages called ‘episodes’ on Urbanesia. This came up after frequent requests by merchants for Urbanesia to bring not only recommendation but also sales. In each episode, Urbanesia combines handpicked products and services with the same theme to create an exclusive experience.
3) What are the main challenges faced by you in this highly dynamic online media ecosystem?
There is more competition for traffic and revenue as newer start-ups and giant tech companies like Facebook and Google start venturing into the local business advertisement market.
4) What’s your best tip to the new publishers out there?
Create your own unique high-demand content.
5) What role does Innity play in your business and how has it helped?
We work with ad networks to maximize our revenue from displaying advertisement. We hope to get more revenue by joining Innity.
