Introducing one of our favorite publisher, Tantannews, a site that provides updated and hot news to online readers. 1.) Can you tell us a little about Tantannews and how it got started?

谈谈网从2013年开始，由2位年轻人带领下，召集了热衷分享网络资讯的撰稿员，搜罗时下最热的网络资讯与新闻并转载到谈谈网。2015年1月开始，谈谈网开始转型成为网络新媒体，并开始撰写本地及原创内容，报导市场最新消息与新闻，以提供更贴近马来西亚人的生活资讯，打造一个网络新媒体平台。

Tantannews was founded in 2013 by two young ambitious men. They quickly recruited talented writers who were passionate in sharing and searching for news to be shared on Tantannews. In January 2015, Tantannews evolved into an online media where they created their own articles and reported the latest news. We wanted to create a brand new information platform for Malaysians.

2.) What is your strategy to stand out from your competitors?

如今谈谈网所发布的内容其实秉持了6大要素：热度、速度、鲜度、优度、个性化及原创内容。在许多文章农场网站、新网站如雨后春笋出现的挑战下，一个优质资讯网站需要更多的原创与优质文章，才能够吸引更多的读者跟随。抢鲜、抢热、抢快，几乎已经变成所有网站的指标，但是他们却忽略了原创与优质资讯与文章的重要性。
此外，我们不断的追求创新手法撰写广告文案，让商家的产品与服务能够更生活化的融入读者，从中让商家与读者得到需要的回响与资讯。
在个性化方面。我们的每个编辑都有自己的独特形象和风格，通过社交媒体与网民活跃互动，此亲和力将协助提升网民参与感与黏度。

For Tantannews, we always ensure that our articles contain six main elements – trending topics, swift publication, freshness, high quality, personalization, and originality.
There are indeed many news sites nowadays, and in order to stand out from them, we believe a great news site must create original and high quality content. Most of the sites out there are mostly focused in getting the latest information but they forget about the importance of creating original and quality content.
Furthermore, we are also focused on exploring innovative and unique ways to write sponsored articles that allow the brand’s message to be seamlessly integrated into the site for better consumption by the reader.
We have a very unique and personalised voice. Every editor of Tantannews has a distinctive image and style, and we leverage on that to interact with our readers via social media to maintain a good relationship with them.

3.) What are the main challenges faced by you in this highly dynamic online media ecosystem?

目前整个网络生态是泛滥的，自2013年尾开始，太多海内外的文章农场网站出现，他们的营运方式是提供一个平台让网民大量抄袭或改写其他网站文章，从中让网民赚取稿费，而网站则赢得了客观的浏览量。
其实，如果网络读者长期性被提供这些内容，将导致整个网络资讯内容的素质下降，而读者的阅读素质与判断资讯优劣也将随之下降，这是一个非常不健康的发展。
因此，在于保护文章原创者的知识产权，及提升网民的阅读素质方面，需要付出更多的努力。这是一场长期战争，我们需要更多来自商家与网民的维护与支持本地优质网站。

Since 2013, there are many sites out there plagiarizing articles and sharing them on social media to make a quick buck. All of these sites will get a good number of visitors as many of the articles are plagiarized from other websites. In fact, this might have a bad effect on readers as they will be consuming content without proper verification or properly analysing the accuracy and quality of the information. This is a very unhealthy trend.
Hence, we have to put in huge efforts to protect the intellectual property of the articles and increase the content quality among users. This is a long battle thus we will need a lot of cooperation and support from online users and brand advertisers as well.

4.) What can you share with us about building content for the site?

嗯，每个谈谈网的小编都有一个使命，就是不能让自己的粉丝／读者没有资讯或新闻看。小编们都会紧贴时事与网络最新动态，以确保能够第一时间给粉丝们提供第一手的消息。小编团是一个网站最重要的灵魂人物，跟你分享一个例子，在今年8月中国天津发生的一场大爆炸，当时小编团接到消息已经是凌晨约3点，但是为了能过第一时间发布此新闻，小编团在睡眼惺忪地情况下报导了此新闻，并发布到面书专页。
我们的小编团是365天，24小时全年无休为网民服务，这份敬业乐业与服务精神，需要更多的商家与网民支持。

In Tantannews, the mission of our editorial team is to ensure that readers will always have the latest news and stories to read. The editorial team definitely plays a very important role in our site. Let me share with you a story that happened in August during the China- Tianjin explosion incident. Our editors were woken up by the news at 3am and went straight to work to report and update readers on the incident. Our passionate and responsible team works all year around to make sure readers are updated. It can get rather exhausting but receiving support and encouragement from our readers and partners mean the world to us to continue to strive forward.

5.) Any words of wisdom you’d like to share with new and aspiring new publishers

首先，你看面子书是如何改变了整个世界的生活模式，吃、喝、拉、撒啥都要放在面书，现在大家也只会在面子书找朋友，联系朋友，电话也少联络了，其影响力有多大可想而知。
作为一个新媒体网站，我们需要的是带给网民优质的资讯内容，通过网站的力量去改变这个社会，影响这个社会。别说不是传统媒体就不需要媒体责任，作为一个新媒体网站，你就有媒体职业道德的责任，肩负了提供正确与优质资讯内容给网民的使命。

First of all, I’m sure we all know the power of Facebook. It changed the whole world and the lifestyle of the people. People are willing to share everything on Facebook and they can even connect with long lost friends and family.
As a new online media site, we need a lot of good quality articles to share among our readers to educate and inform them and to impact society as a whole. As with traditional media, we as an online media, have to be responsible to provide accurate and high quality content to our readers.

6.) Other than your own, what are your favourite websites out there?

其中我们个人比较欣赏的网站（中文网站），台湾网站的营运方式，是让人十分让人钦佩与值得学习的。
举例如TEEPR ，他们成功在整个网络红海中找到了自己的定位，在台湾及马来西亚的Alexa中排名20之内，面子书粉丝达1.5mil之多。此网址的独特之处，在于他们会搜罗时下最人气的外国视频，并且加以翻译及附上中文字幕，吸引了一票的海内外的粉丝跟随。

We personally think that the websites in Taiwan are great role models to learn from. TEEPR for example, successfully positioned their brand and stood out in the online media industry. TEEPR is listed Top20 in Taiwan and Malaysia by Alexa, and their Facebook Page has more than 1.5 million followers. What’s unique about the website is that they monitor the internet for the trending and hottest videos from the world and edit them by providing subtitles to the videos for their readers to understand. Because of this, they attracted a lot of people to follow their page.

7.) What role does Innity play in your business and what do you like most about working with Innity?

8.) Where do you see Tantannews in 3 years time and what do you hope to achieve?

首先，我们在未来的3年，会积极投入在科技研发，为谈谈网创造一个更有效及先进的资讯分享平台。我们的目标是成为全原创文章网站，并从单向性提供内容给网民转变成双向性的营运模式，致力打造一个由小编团与网民联手而成的自媒体平台。所有任何大马最新资讯与热门话题都可以第一时间在我们网站找到。

First of all, in the next 3 years, we will actively focus on research and development in order to create an effective and advanced information platform to our readers. Our goal is to become a website that completely creates original articles as well as focus on two-way information flow rather than just a one-way flow.

9.) If your website had a superhero mascot, what would you call it and what superpowers would it have?

其实我们已经有一个吉祥物，他名字叫啊懒猫（https://www.facebook.com/i.am.ahlanmao/?fref=ts）。他的形象活泼（活力）、不按牌理出牌（创意），但是对于时下任何最新的吃、喝、玩、乐生活资讯都能第一时间知道。当然，他不是超人啦！也没有超能力。如果真的说要有一个超人吉祥物的话，应该还是一只猫。我们希望他有一双x-ray般的眼睛，可以看透网民想要看的资讯与内容，哈哈！

It is energetic, creative, and knowledgeable on the latest places to eat, drink, play or any lifestyle tips. However, it is not a superhero and doesn’t have any superpowers. If Ah Lan Mao had superpowers, we hope it has a pair of x-ray eyes that can detect and predict the type of content that a reader would like to read, haha!
